Celebrities today have a much bigger responsibility then what they had several years ago. They must think of how they dress ,talk and how they behave. They must simply be a good prototype. Many kids and teenagers want to be famous so when they see these celebrities they try to be like them. The celebrity ideal in today’s society is sick. Take Paris Hilton for example she became famous for just being an Hilton and for running around at all these parties. Then she bought a chihuahua and suddenly everyone wanted one. The stores earn a lot of money on dogclothes and accessories, it was like the dog was the new purse. Then we have all this skinny models who makes young girls think they are fat and some starts on a diet and it can in worse case scenario leads to bulimia or anorexia. And we also have all these artist and actors who takes drugs or drink and drive. Many of they get caught, but they do not get any long imprisonment like any ordinary person would get. And if they should end up in prison they get special treatment. Like Pete Doherty he has been caught several times for using drugs and he always just got tickets or a prowl then after he had been caught some more times he finally got prison but just for some months and he got special treatment. Image is probably more important if you are an actor. If you are known for being a party girl and coming late to the set-up you probably don’t get a lot of jobs. And if you don’t get jobs you must come up with stuff to keep you famous so that’s maybe why some celebrities are behaving like they do. Kate moss for instant. She got caught doing drugs but that didn’t ruin her career, she got a lot of work after that. and for people doing some kind of sport. There are many runners who is using illegal drugs to run faster. And it is a shame that they do it. Cause you always think when you are seeing someone running really fast that he is on these drugs. But the punishment is really hard you can been suspended for life or in a few years. But if you’re coming back after a suspension you will always been known as the guy who used drugs. But the most interesting sport is football. The papers are always writing so much about the football player and their wives .David Beckham is known for being this handsome good football player who gives expensive gifts to his wife Victoria. But then you find out that he apparently cheated on Victoria with his assistant. But the papers are writing even more about Victoria because she is so skinny. And it seems that if you should succeed in Hollywood today you must be skinny and beautiful at least if you are a woman. The men can look like shit and nobody cares. But there are people who is using their celebrity to do good things. Bill gates who is among the richest persons in the world don’t let the money get to him. He is spending a lot of money every year on charity and Oprah Winfrey is also spending a lot of money on charity she has even helped building a school in Africa. Angelina Jolie who is a famous actress is also a member of UN and travels to exposed countries and works for making it better and tell the rest of the world how the situation is there. I don’t think that it’s really important to have an image in the music business. Take a look at Avril Lavigne she was this tough cool rock girl but then she became more of a pink pop girl but she didn’t loose any fans because of that. So maybe image is important if you are new in the entertainment business but its not so bad if you change it.
